Professional Lifeguarding

This course includes some theory, but gives greater emphases on the water skills of the individual. RSTO instructors ensure that all certified candidates are able to perform rescues with all the mandatory techniques and complex situations which are likely to arise. Become a Professional Lifeguard Instructor

Learning to teach people how to become a lifeguard, on a professional basis, requires background knowledge of the subject, together with relevant skills and experience. If you comply with all the requirements, you may be selected to attend the training course for the Professional Lifeguard programme. During this course, you will learn how to perfect your techniques in the water, how to demonstrate them to others and how to expect others to learn them. You will learn the importance and ‘how to’ of controlling and ensuring the safety of trainees. It is recommended that all candidates have a certificate for First Aid. All successful applicants who pass the course will receive the following:

  • Professional Lifeguarding Instructor manual
  • RSTO Powerpoint for Professional Lifeguards
  • RSTO Multimedia Assistant for Professional Lifeguards (on a DVD)
